I can only express the utter most gratitude to Mr Lau. My experience with Mr Lau began at King's North surgery where I had my first consultation. Having no idea that I'd ever be cured of my condition ( Spinal Stenosis ).

I met with Mr Lau and his professional manner and also his Kind manner put me at ease immediately. Mr Lau talked me through the results of my MRi and then explained that he felt that surgery would certainly help me. The word surgery would normally have me reaching for the panic button, but Mr Lau's confidence in what he would be able to achieve set my mind at ease.

The surgery itself was around 10 weeks after my consultation. Mr Lau spoke with me prior to the surgery and again set my mind at ease by communicating with me in a very confident manner what the surgery involved. The whole medical team that looked after me that day were exceptional and I will be forever grateful.

It has been 7 weeks since my surgery and my life has been transformed, I can now walk for more than 5 minutes without having to rest. I managed to achieve a 2 mile walk without stopping once, which is something I never achieved prior to surgery. I can stand longer and more upright, my life has certainly been changed for the better, thanks to the expert surgery that took place by Mr Lau and his team.

I have been under the care of Mr Lau for a few years. Over time he has always helped me when needed to relieve my pain through spinal block injections till unfortunately the cause of my symptoms became to much for me to cope with and the injections for the symptoms were not enough.
At this moment in time my desperation with the pain and loss of function of my legs at times , I saw Mr Lau and he took action to get me seen and dealt with at A & E, to ensure a swift response to my situation. I was struggling to walk, to move, I couldn’t sit or stand or lay in bed. I felt helpless and was not in a good place.
At all times Mr Lau explained to me what was happening with my spine, always listened to what I needed and I was always treated very well, so I made an appointment to see Dr Lau, this I felt was my only option to get the help I needed!
With his influence and recommendations I was put on a priority list for a spinal fusion and left sided cage. I was in A&E in August, the surgery took place in November.
I had the usual worry about the procedure as normal, but I was guided through it and decided that nothing could be worse than I was.
From waking up I could feel the difference, the pain, the cramping feeling, the numbness were gone!
What a difference this has made to my life! It literally has been life changing!
I can honestly say that I wake up and am not anxious to get the day started anymore!
I am relatively pain free, I have walked 5 miles and I am only in my 8 th week of recovery from the surgery.
I have more energy, sleep better, and am excited about life again!
Mr Lau is an absolute legend in my eyes, he literally saved my life!
I am so grateful and genuinely thankful to Mr Lau, he saw me at my worst and did what was needed to help me get back to normal and make me my best.
His professionalism is fantastic, whilst still being a caring person, I absolutely would trust him to do any further surgery’s as required and recommend him whole heartedly. Thank you Dr Lau!

I was referred to Mr Lau from another consultant with severe pain and mobility problems, this peaked before my appointment to very short distances on crutches and sleeping on my living floor with pain killers taken on a count down of time before i could have some more.
Mr Lau, professionalism and demeanour was a breath of fresh air, he was quick to put a plan into place after the review of my MRI with surgery followed within 10 days. The surgery needed was a discectomy which was very well explained to me with my lack of knowledge. The procedure started with me arriving at the Hospital and the very kind reception staff wanting me to have a wheel chair but stubbornness made me get to my bed with my crutches pumping out sweat like a bucket of water had been thrown over me. The procedure went very well and i was seen before and after the operation by Mr Lau, the following day i was taken to the physio department and then at 1 pm walked out of the Chaucer Hospital carrying my crutches with a smile on my face that was priceless. I cannot speak highly enough of my treatment with Mr Lau and the outcome of my back operation has been life changing.

I was referred to Mr Lau in July 2024 for nerve block injections after a few MRIS showing issues in the L4-L5 and buttock area, with a serious of uncomfortable pain since 2019, I had tired with the GP to move this forward but the pain just got worse! So glad I finally was given a chance Mr Lau immediately worked out where the pain was rooting from and what needed to be done, the nerve block was successfully for 6 weeks but no permanent, I went under in November for spinal decompression surgery which was a scary time at the age of 32! He reassured me that I would be fine and felt confident in what he said throughout. Here we are February 2025 and I have been pain free since, physio is helping bring back the strength required since the operation and helping get back to feeling normal. But as you can expect having your life impacted for 5 years in constant pain in every small job you do like basic hoovering, washing the car and trying to pick your young children up for a cuddle was extremely hard and painful. I would like to thank Mr Lau and EKH and Spencer Hospitals for giving me my life back and if your reading this then do something about it and have the confidence in what Mr Lau is telling you as he knows exactly what he is talking about.
