Called S2 in a bit of a flap as soon as their office opened at 8:30am as somebody had sent a sensitive email to the wrong person. Got through to Nathan McGeary who was able to resolve the issue without any delay and helped avoid an awkward situation . Much appreciated!

First of all, I should say that I work for S2 Computers, I’m the Senior Engineer (now Service Manager). So let me give the inside perspective.

S2 is a great place to work, we have a great team, we’re all technical, problem solvers and up for a challenge.

The company ethos and mission is to help our customers use their technology to make their lives easier and their businesses more efficient. We are encouraged to go the extra mile and spend more time talking to a customer if there’s a way to help them beyond what they asked for, (they pay a fixed fee so this doesn’t cost them any extra). This is such a difference from previous places I’ve worked where the expectation was to end the call as soon as possible or where the customer is charged by the minute, how can you really help people when you’re being rushed It's really satisfying to finish the day knowing that you’ve helped people and made their day better.

We are given (and encouraged to use) plenty of training opportunities because IT doesn’t stand still and we have to learn the new technologies and for a techie like me that’s exactly what I want to do. Even better when I can use that new skill or knowledge to help a customer.

I especially love the fact that I’ve got to know almost all the S2 customers and that I’m not just a faceless voice at the end of the phone. That when a customer come to me, I can own that issue or query from start to finish. Again very satisfying to see to through to completion.

In my non working time I do community and charity work and previous employers have resented this. Not the case with S2 where the directors have embraced this and allowed me the flexibility to engage with this when practical.

I strongly believe in the connection between happy employees leading to happy customers and that’s what I see at S2 Computers.
