We were with another accountant who sold out to this company. 'Seemless' we were advised, you will not notice: then the invoice arrives with a 50% increase in fees. No explanation, even when I asked the rational behind said increases, I was ignored. Poor and lazy advice regarding self assessment which would have cost a lot of money had I not made decisions myself to reduce the costs. Disappointed with the service. I would not recommend. We have moved on.

I was recommended Hillier Hopkins by my Financial Advisor as we outgrew our previous, small accounting practice. I have been very happy with the quality of service from the HH team, we have 2 named contacts who support our business, and the level of service thus far has been exemplary (both have been to our offices and have joined me for ad hoc meetings at my dining table). Queries are processed and responded to quickly, they are never too busy to explain their workings in lay terms for me, and the advice offered has helped us to develop our business. I had a very bad experience with Hillier Hopkins. Peter Brimmel had prepared my tax return but it was done so badly I had to get a new accountant to do the tax return again correctly. When I asked them to refund their fee back to me I was offered only the interest what I had to pay to HMRC.
Before they sent me the invoice they also put their price up. Normally I would expect a notice about price increase before I get the invoice.
On top of that when I wanted to discuss this with Colin Gray he simply just disappeared… I Sent several emails and left messages on the reception and on his voicemail but didn’t get any answer yet for about 4 weeks.

I try and mark each year since first working with Robert Haysom of Hillier Hopkins by reflecting on a long-standing relationship. I’m a musician whose creative brain doesn’t do numbers, and I work internationally. So I’m just super-grateful that in 23 years of working with Robert and the team, I haven’t had a single tax issue to worry about. 🎉

My business/personal tax with HH is small beer in the scheme of things, but I’ve always been treated as the exact opposite. So, respectfully, I don’t agree at all with another reviewer below, complaining of lack of attention to small business owners 😉
The detail, professionalism and great advice offered down the years has given me peace of mind always.
