Awful company to deal with, very unprofessional and don't have a clue of requirements. They kept chasing for documents that had allready been sent to them weeks ago and confirmed they had received.

Non-responsive and unprofessional. We had purchased a house using their services towards the end of 2011, as they were the preferred solicitor of the builders. After completion we were informed that all correspondence would be kept on file and we could come back and request anything we need at a later date. This year we sold the property and found that we needed some of the documents which Penmans were holding on file for us. So much for their promise. Appalling service, particularly as their phone lines no longer worked and they were hiding behind their Corringham office. They were very friendly and helpful, but completely failed at getting anybody from the Stanford-le-Hope office to contact us OR to provide the documents we needed - instead employing the "if we lie and ignore them long enough they'll go away" approach. After calling them repeatedly over a period of 4 weeks (our solicitor also called them numerous times), we had still had ZERO RESPONSE regarding the documents we needed. In conclusion: if you want service and honesty, go somewhere else. There are plenty of honest and professional solicitors out there. This outfit are not amongst them.
