I am new to this area of planning. From the time of engagement the Hawkes Architecture team have been a joy to work with - knowledgeable, approachable, professional, responsive, understanding.

I do however work on much larger development projects where the analysis and work required is extensive and exhaustive, with planning applications running to thousands of pages. Even though this particular project was one single home under Paragraph 80 of the Planning Policy, I am still delighted with the standard of work delivered for the planning application. An excellent document of some 400 pages was produced to analyse and work up designs for a planning application, and a public consultation was organised and held by the project team to involve neighbours and local councillors.

My project is within GreenBelt, borders an AONB, and is near a listed building so it is not an easy site and it needs a lot of consideration. To the inexperienced it is a minefield. The Hawkes Architecture team understood all the issues this raises and the standards that need to be met, and led me through a process efficiently and with great thought. Particularly with neighbours this has helped to deliver a smooth process.

It is also worth mentioning that it is not just the knowledge that Hawkes Architecture bring, but also their network. The experts used in fields such as Landscape and Ecology, Planning, and Heritage were recommended by Hawkes Architecture and they were all top experts who have added tremendously to the final planning application. Whilst introducing these suppliers, at all times it felt to me that it was one big team rather than a group of suppliers, which also gave me a lot of confidence and team working throughout the process.

After initial analysis, Hawkes Architecture also produced the budget plan for approval, which they have stuck to throughout with no area quoted for going over budget. Again, when going through this process for the first time being able to budget effectively is vital.

I have also enjoyed working to the culture that Hawkes Architecture has within its team. It is an engaging and positive culture that encourages creativity, sustainability, continual improvement, 'planet awareness', and longevity. This energy drives projects forward.

It is hard to imagine a better team than Hawkes Architecture and I am delighted that is the team I engaged to turn my dream into a reality.

We've worked with Richard and his team on Para 55/79/80 proposals and really appreciate and enjoy the collaborative approach that he encourages throughout the proposals, from our early landscape and visual considerations through design review and onwards to detailed design. This feeling of being part of 'Team Hawkes' leads to a deep sense of engagement with the site and of being party to their willingness to test multiple design options, before reaching a proposal that feels most settled in the landscape.
