I met Paul at a networking event in Leeds when I was setting up my business in 2018. He came across as very knowledgeable and was working with lots of other small businesses.

This gave me the confidence to appoint him as my accountant and since then he has been my first point of contact for all sorts of financial questions (god help him!). And every now and then we have a nice chat on the phone to help keep us both sane, working from home.

Paul Clifton was appointed my company's accountant over six years ago and I have not had one moment's regret in that time.
Paul is responsive to my queries (usually responding within one-two working days), offers absolute clarity regarding his costs prior to carrying out my requests and (most importantly) makes regular returns to HMRC and others with alarming punctuality and detail.
My business is allied to the housebuilding and utility industries and that's the bit I know best and is where my company earns it's money. Aside from maintaining daily records, all other business is entrusted to Paul.
Paul and I aren't mates. He's my accountant and I'm his client. When once asked whether I would recommend his services, my reply was 'Appointing Paul Clifton as my company's accountant was the single best business decision I have ever made'. - That comment stands.
