Worst doctor’s surgery I’ve ever been associated with. You can’t get an appointment, half the time they tell you to call back and then you’re on hold for so long that you just end up giving up. Either that or it cuts you off. If you have a choice, don’t choose this doctors surgery. You’ll regret it if you do.

Phoned today with swollen tongue, stiff neck & eye swelling, receptionist told me to call an eye specialist, obviously not interested regarding other symptoms.

There definitely not interested in investigating symptoms, I had to pay individual specialists £250 a go each to get diagnosed with scan referrals, for an osteoma & shoulder injury as they're not interested in referring for scans or specialists, they're basically going off Google.

Some receptionists have serious attitude problems, including the one I spoke to just before 8.55am this morning. Obstructive, lacking in sympathy, rude and defensive when told their attitude is bad. If you can't handle dealing with a high traffic phone line, speaking to people in serious pain then don't get a job as a doctor's receptionist!

Most gps and nurses who visit to sort problems are good (Some Drs are glued to desks now! There are exceptions but this surgery is overloaded so this may be the only way to manage things. it is the nearest for me, been with it over 60 years)
BUT Patient Acess. I used to be able to order medicine, see results, planned visits and notes for myself and for my Husband as he is unable to do this for himself.
I tried to look up Patient Access to see when we have visits due as we are both housebound. He was due a check up yesterday, booked by 999 crew I'm supposed to have blood tests regularly.

Patient Access won't let me, I was told to speak to receptionist who will sort it out, no sign yet. Just because I cannot give a mobile phone number!

I was told to email which I will do for the regular prescriptions and the dispensary have kindly sent one urgent item for delivery needed tomorrow.
Like a previous post, I am used to computers, first learnt (Fortran4) in 1970 and used them for work until I retired, so I'm not computer phobic! What is the problem with patient access which insists on mobile phone use and no way of finding information without piling more work on the surgery staff? I happily gave the surgery my email address and landline number a long time ago.
Please can someone sort it out or use a different system. I'll have to email and send SARs if I want to get information from now.

Review of Bishops Waltham Surgery

I have been a patient at Bishops Waltham Surgery for over 8 years now, and my overall experience has been nothing short of excellent. Here's a breakdown of my observations:

Appointment System:
I have only booked on the phone or directly with the receptionist. You do need to phone as soon as the surgery opens and the there is a telephone queuing system as you would expect.
Same-day appointments are consistently available for emergencies.

Waiting Area:
The waiting area at the surgery is well-maintained, providing a clean and comfortable environment. There is a convenient self booking in monitor which saves you queuing at reception. Thee is also the added convenience of a Pharmacy within the waiting room which will dispense prescriptions if you live over a certain distance from the surgery.

Staff and Communication:
The staff at Bishops Waltham Surgery are truly commendable. The doctors exhibit an abundance of time and patience, Dr. Susie Wade-West, has been particularly excellent. The staff are approachable, friendly, and communicate effectively with patients.

Waiting Times:
Generally, appointments are conducted promptly. In cases of delays, the doctors or nurses always extend apologies, demonstrating a commitment to patient care.

Facilities and Equipment:
The facilities at Bishops Waltham Surgery are not only well-equipped but also up-to-date. The option to book directly with a physiotherapist is a notable convenience, and the short wait time (less than a week) for self-referral is impressive.

Overall Experience:
I would rate my overall experience at Bishops Waltham Surgery a solid 10 out of 10. The quality of care and attention rivals that of private treatment, and I speak from firsthand experience.

In summary, Bishops Waltham Surgery stands out as a healthcare provider that excels in patient care, service and efficiency. I wholeheartedly recommend it to others seeking excellent NHS services.

I think this surgery deserves more credit than previous reviews state. I've been registered with BW surgery all my life and always impressed with the high level of care I receive. Dr Palethorpe I'd say is one of the best GPs I've met, so kind and never feel my problem is too little. Never feel like I'm being rushed out the door and have always been able to get an appointment if I need one.

Appointment booking process is really confusing. E-Consult and/or Patient Access doesn't work clearly and there is no obvious way to select what you need (I'm an IT project manager before anybody questions my competence in digital). If you try to phone for an appt, you're in a queue for 2 hours and then you're cut off. Please, please, please can we just have CLEAR methods for booking appointments that actually work?

Recently moved to the area and I was nervous about signing up with this surgery given some of the reviews. I have been really pleased that I did as the service has been excellent so far. I've needed to consult with the surgery, get appointments, advice and prescriptions and have had no issues doing so.
