My initial consultation with Sophie at Britton & Time was quite positive. She was well-informed and provided valuable advice, instilling confidence in their services.

However, this initial impression did not carry through the entirety of my experience.

The initial Client Care Agreement presented to me was rushed, confusing and failed to address the specific issues I had raised during the consultation. Upon pointing out these discrepancies, I received a call to discuss and promptly adjust the necessary sections of the contract. After these adjustments were made, I signed the contract and deposited £1500 to commence services.

Unexpectedly, I was later billed £400 for the phone call and the contract adjustments (the deletion of a paragraph, and change of one word) plus an additional £300 for various email correspondences, including basic acknowledgements billed at £40 each, with one instance involving an additional £40 for managerial review.

While the fees for email responses were stipulated in the contract, the charges for modifying the contract, critical for it to reflect my needs accurately, were not outlined in any contractual document nor were they discussed prior to being incurred. When I challenged these charges, instead of receiving an apology or an attempt to rectify the situation, I found myself embroiled in a dispute over the fees.

I am extremely disappointed with how the situation escalated, involving more effort and resources to defend billing practices than to address my legal needs.

---------

I since did email them again as suggested, where then again they justified these illegal charges and then threatened indemnity charges if I rightfully took it to small claims court. But as I am a vunerable person, I don't have to pay court fees, however high the claim 🤷🏻‍♂️

I booked an appointment with a solicitor about a matter which I needed legal advice on. I met with Alex Harrison and couldn't be happier with the service he provided. Alex went through everything I needed to know to support my case and was extremely professional, knowledgeable and helpful. He answered my many questions in an informative, concise manner and I would recommend him and Britton and Time to anyone needing solicitors - they are fantastic! Thank you very much!

Unfortunately, I received very poor service from Britton & Time.

I had two consultations, the first of which left me feeling like I had been rushed and I ended up being misinformed on a few things, which came to light when I had the 2nd consultation, during which they were not able to give me good answers as to why the errors had occurred in the first meeting.

That said, they presented a strong plan to move forward which I bought into. However, I was concerned with what had happened so far, shared these concerns via email and asked them to acknowledge them and give me reassurances about why I should work with them moving forward. I wanted to work with them, since I had already spent hundreds of pounds on consultations, but just wanted them to give me hope things would be better moving forwards.

Instead, I received a "your complaint will be acknowledged and responded to in 10 working days" generic email, in line with their "complaints procedure".

This hardly made me feel confident. But I actually was concerned that I would have to start again with another solicitor and spend even more money, so I even went back to them and said, look, I'm not happy, but I'm stuck, let's just get on with it.

My messages were now ignored (they had been quickly responded to beforehand) so I decided that I was probably better off not working with them, so went with somebody else.

A few days later I received a very defensive email with zero empathy and zero customer service, basically saying why my complaints didn't hold up and I was basically wrong. But if I wanted to work with them, then please sign their forms and pay the money.

If they had just picked up the phone and had a proper chat with me when I complained, I would have felt heard and understood and probably would have gone with them for my case since I had already spent so much money with them.

Instead, my experience has been one that left me feeling that this is a very transactional firm, who don't value customer service, doesn't value their customers and just doesn't treat people very well.
