I’m acquainted with someone who engaged Bross Bennett Family Solicitors for their divorce, and it was a deeply regrettable experience.

What started as a simple case quickly became an expensive, drawn-out ordeal. The overall costs were alarmingly high—far exceeding what anyone would expect, especially given the “competitive rates” promised. Despite the rising costs, there was little progress made, leaving them tens of thousands of pounds out of pocket.

Instead of working towards a resolution, Bross Bennett seemed more focused on escalating tensions between this person and their ex, prolonging both the emotional and financial strain. It felt as though they were more interested in justifying their fees rather than resolving the case efficiently.

Looking back, it’s clear they could have achieved similar results with more affordable options—perhaps even using AI tools like ChatGPT, which would have helped navigate the process without the financial toll.

The UK divorce process is tightly proceduralised, with judges having little room for discretion. Given this, Bross Bennett’s high fees seem disproportionate to the likely outcome, as solicitors can’t significantly influence the decision.
