Disappointed with Cochrane’s who I used for the conveyancing on sale of my house. I instructed them in May 2021, only completed in November 2021! Fortunately I wasn’t in a chain where I had to sell my house to fund another immediately, but I think they knew this and probably worked against me as they knew I ‘could wait’.
I knew the buyers of my house so therefore knew exactly what was going on on both sides of the house sale throughout, when I knew the buyers were ready with their paperwork I was told Cochrane’s were still waiting. Generally sounded like excuse emails whenever I chased up.
The buyers mortgage was complete in July, I kept chasing this stage of sale as knew they were ready, this went on until September when I was told the paperwork had gone into Cochrane’s junk email folder ?♂️?♂️ it’s 2021 who doesn’t check their junk folder?
To be fair after this Dawn did respond quickly to all my emails and enquiries, she was probably sick of me contacting her every other day. Unfortunately I think this is the only tactic to push through whatever you require (that probably goes for many law firms!). I understand Cochrane’s have had some staff turn over during 2021 along with Covid issues, but come on if you can’t run your business professionally then seek help or step away. I would suspect that the Management is not up to requirements.
