I engaged Family Mediators South East during a period of parental alienation, and what unfolded under the mediator, Mary, made the situation significantly worse for my child.

Despite clear warnings about ongoing harassment and a plea for structure and child focus, Mary ignored context and allowed the session to spiral into a one-sided platform where my parenting was attacked. She empowered the alienating parent, dismissed any attempt I made to bring focus back to my child, and labelled me as combative simply for raising safeguarding concerns.

Mary’s handling of that session legitimised the alienation and directly prolonged the emotional distress my child was in. It emboldened the other parent and pushed us further from resolution.

As a result, I pursued court action. The Cafcass officer recognised the emotional harm to my child, and this has culminated with my child being in my full-time care and thriving because of it, this has been substantiated by the school and others. I hold a full recording and transcript of the mediation, which will be the subject of formal complaints to the Family Mediation Council, College of Mediators, and Family Mediator Association.

This was not a neutral or professional experience. Mary failed my child, and her conduct extended a painful chapter in our lives. I would strongly advise others to seek mediation elsewhere.
