Counselling is a sign of weakness. That’s what I used to think, but I’ve come to the conclusion and I genuinely believe everyone could do with some counselling. We’ve all got areas in our life of pain and hurt and for me counselling has helped begin a journey of healing.

It’s like Gary holds up a mirror that I have forgotten to look in for ages and it helps me see the things in my life… the good, the bad and the ugly things that have been there for so long that I have often forgotten about that really could do with dealing with.

Gary has a way about him that just makes you feel relaxed and welcome. As someone who deals with social anxiety it’s almost like Gary’s counselling hut is a place where I can be 100% me with no fear of judgement. I can say what I’m really thinking, be raw and real and know all that will come back is a listening and understanding ear. I’ve never felt a hint of judgement from Gary but only felt supported and appreciated for who I am when I open up about the messy things in my life.

Coming to counselling initially I guess I thought that Gary may wave a magic wand and make my problems disappear. Which isn’t how it works. In fact I’d say it’s more like counselling has given me the keys to unlock doors in my life I didn’t know in some cases had been locked shut for years and had been keeping me from experiencing a full life. It’s never going to be a quick fix situation but rather it’s been a journey of discovering who I am so that I can be my greatest ally where before I have been my own worst enemy.

Thank you Gary for offering such a welcoming environment. Your sessions have been priceless and I highly recommend them to anyone!
