I guess it depends what you're using them for, but in connection with Will Trusts I have found this firm to be absolutely terrible. I have had the misfortune of dealing with them for a number of years and they have been consistently shocking with communications, ie unanswered emails, cancelled appointments and constant delaying tactics.
I seldom write reviews but I do feel that this firm deserve it. They are highly unprofessional and I would strongly advise anyone thinking of using them to think twice and then go elsewhere!

We dealt with Hawley and Rodgers last year on selling our house due to me being diagnosed with a terminal illness. I explained to them our situation and that we needed to move fairly quickly. We had numerous occasions where we were having to chase for updates and we were in fact in touch with our buyers and sellers and with that discovered they were with holding info on the chain. In the end our estate agent had to physically walk over to try and gain info on what was happening. My husband and I are not complainers, but we were at breaking point when the sale and move date was re-arranged due to them not moving funds in time to go through the whole chain. This then meant everyone was delayed again. With that we rang them - all the phone lines to the Bingham branch were being redirected due to building works!!! Not their fault but why when we are in the middle of trying to complete wouldn’t you give an alternate contact number?! So, after a very disgruntled email was sent we got a rude reply (saying we were rude) and they won’t deal with us again. I would say in my whole 30 years of life I’ve never felt so undervalued as a customer and I have never been so upset due to a house move. And given they knew my situation-showed no compassion or even a want to help us get moved ASAP. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND! Sorry Hawley and Rodgers.

Poor communication. Slow to respond. Frequently don't answer phone calls (rarely get past the gatekeeper on reception). Excessive and unnecessary delays to each part of the process.

I feel that Hawley and Rodgers take on too many clients which overwhelms their small team. Their team end up working evenings and weekends which isnt good for them and it means they inadvertently create a poor customer experience through multiple delays and a general feel that everyone is too busy to deal with you. The staff themselves at Hawley are nice to deal with, once you get hold of them...

We won't be using them again.

We had been working closely with Lisa throughout our sale and purchase. Understanding that it was an extremely busy time for all solicitors not just H&R during the stamp duty relief period, we remained patient and faithful knowing that if there were matters that required our attention or input they were swift to act and seek the information. If either myself or my wife were unavailable for their call they would try the other and leave messages if neither of us could answer. The clarity of all correspondence was perfect and if needed, broken down into layman terms as some of the legal terminologies can be overwhelming. I can speak highly of their professionalism and ability to continue with all proceedings on our behalf. At no point did we feel as though we were being pushed to a side in preference to other clients despite our fees suggesting we were "small fish" their diligence throughout made the legal transfers easy, entertaining our requests to collect and drop off paperwork to save time with the post services. Thank you H&R, we are now settling in to our new home.

Experience started mediocre with initial point of contact which left us feeling a little ignored and a low priority. This quickly changed towards the end of the process when all of our correspondence was with Ally who was nothing but supportive and increadibly helpfull. Going above and beyond in all aspects to help us with what proved to be an unbelievably difficult house move. We can only thank Ally for the continuous support!

The only reason I’m putting one star is because I can’t put 0. I have been both sides of the chain with this solicitor as buyer and seller and both times they have been horrendous. There were emails they didn’t come back to for 3 weeks (blaming the fact someone was on holiday) never available to take calls, don’t communicate with other solicitors, never commit to any time frames or inform you where things are at in the process, never take responsibility for anything and continually make excuses.

I honestly don’t know how they’re surviving with the level of service they provide.

Stay far away unless you’re looking for the biggest headache of your life!

On selling a property recently the conveyancing, undertaken by Hawley & Rodgers in Bingham, took approximately 3 months. During this time, the buyer and I spoke to each other regularly and neither of us were aware of any issues that might cause delay. The cash buyer was ready to move in June and the property was vacant, eventually we completed in September. Despite ringing Hawley & Rodgers regularly and also emailing and writing, I still have not received an answer as to why the conveyancing took so long.

Helen Allen at Hawley and Rodgers was very efficient and the service provided was very good. The whole process was smooth and did not take ages like other conveyancers. I would definitely recommend them.
