From being greeted by receptionist in Endoscopy Unit to leaving following a Colonoscopy I can’t fault the level of care, kindness, support and empathy I received from staff and doctors. I had only 6 days earlier had treatment for a detached retina at another hospital and the Horton team were absolutely amazing. The procedure was well explained, took place on time and the whole team were reassuring. Results came back very quickly. Thank you so much Endoscopy team!

I had to attend Cardiology Physiology, being new to the area entered the wrong entrance A very kind volunteer offered to get me to my appointment in a wheelchair. He was so kind and thoughtful, it was quite way I would not have found my way in time of my appointment without his help.
I was fitted with a heart monitor by a lovely member of staff. She was very professional and extremely thoughtful, making sure I found the. right entrance to get my lift home . I wish I had taken note of both staff members names.
They made my experience far less stressed with their kindness .

I am a very rare visitor to a&e (hopefully because I understand what an actual emergency is.) within the last 12 months I have visited twice due to stuck kidney stones. I received nothing but care and understanding, yes I was in considerable pain but could see first hand how busy the limited staff are. When I asked her help from passing staff trying to deal with more serious matters, they were polite and listened. Yes it can be a long wait but if you genuinely need their help, it’s doesn’t matter how long it is, because they are dealing with someone who needs more urgent aid. Everyone was lovely and I was provided with information and what was going on. I felt listened to, and cannot thank the staff enough. The last nurse I encountered who took my cannula out was so caring and kind, I left with really wonderful words in my mind.

I recently attended the women’s day patient diagnostic centre for a small procedure and wanted to say I was overwhelmed by the support and friendliness of all the staff. We were there all day and were visited by nurses, the anaesthetist and consultant who took the time to explain exactly what would be happening and ensured any concerns I had were answered. The whole ambience of the ward was high spirited with so many friendly faces. I especially like to thank Mari who was with us the whole time and made me feel so comfortable in what was to me a stressful time. I know how over worked the NHS is but this unit of staff were exceptional and we could not fault them. Thank you so much.

I had cause to take my elderly mum to HGH because of breathing difficulties. I suppose the timing of any visit to hospital is in the lap of the gods but they were smiling on us when we arrived there. She was seen quickly and given a variety of tests and treatments in very efficient order. Our thanks go to all the staff we encountered who were kind and friendly and whilst no one wants to visit an emergency department of a hospital, this visit was made much more palatable by the kindness of all the staff. They’re all a credit to the profession.

I can't begin to tell you how impressed I was by the whole process for my day centre 'local' op. You would expect a high level of professionalism which is exactly what I saw but the niceness and helpfulness of everyone is simply matchless. The nearest analogy I can think of is visiting a high-quality hotel. No, really. Everyone was so chatty and friendly and went out of their way to put all the patients at ease.

Big thanks to nurse Naomi who was simply lovely in every way. Also the nurse I first saw on entering and, of course, my surgeon Mr Owen. Everything was explained and I was especially impressed by the double checking by everyone, especially in the operating theatre. As I was having a local anaesthetic I was party to what sounded like a pre flight check with lots of questions and affirmatives. Fascinating – like being part of a TV documentary. The op itself was a breeze – the anaesthetic they use completely numbs everything so you quite literally feel nothing.

Surgeons and doctors should quite rightly be on high wages but I think nurses should too! Give them a much bigger raise!! If anyone deserves it they do! All hail the NHS!! Without it we wouldn't be able to leave reception without getting the bank card out! Think about it! Thanks again everyone at Horton General Hospital. You all ROCK!

My wife had a bad fall and was in agony with back spasms. This was on a busy Saturday night in A & E. She was quickly, efficiently and humanely dealt with. I have nothing but praise for the Horton staff we encountered.

Attended Outpatients (Fracture Clinic) on Tuesday 18th February for a follow up appointment for my broken wrist. I was seen almost immediately to remove my cast, received an X-ray and was seen by the doctor…all within 30 minutes! Staff were knowledgeable, personable and efficient. Thank you NHS.
