I signed up for my PCV training with Hughes Driver Training in Loughborough and was lucky enough to have Adrien Essex as my instructor. I met him on Tuesday, and by Friday he had me fully prepared for my test – which I passed!

Adrien is an excellent teacher. He doesn’t sugar-coat mistakes; instead, he points them out clearly, tells you off in a constructive but kind way, and always follows up with solid advice to improve. On my Large Off-Road Manoeuvre test, he explained exactly how to reverse into the bay in one attempt. I followed his advice 100% and parked perfectly without hitting a single cone on my very first try.

I would highly recommend Adrien Essex and Hughes Driver Training to anyone looking to pass their PCV – professional, straightforward, and effective training.

Booking with HDT HGV Training was quick, the team answered my questions clearly and kept the sales pitch light. I felt fully informed before handing over a penny.

What boosted my great experience though, was my instructor Adrian “Ady” Essex. He doesn’t sugar-coat a single thing—he tells you exactly what you’re doing wrong and exactly how to fix it. I trusted his straight-talk even when I didn’t fully grasp the logic, and sure enough everything clicked into place just as he said it would. Thanks to Ady’s no-nonsense coaching, humour and relentless focus, I passed every test. Couldn’t ask for a better mentor on the road. If you're lucky enough to land an instructor as good as Ady, consider yourself halfway to a pass already!

I had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience with my instructor on the day of my driving test. During my practice session, the instructor took a phone call while I was driving and then suddenly told me to make an unsafe left turn at the last second. When I explained it wasn’t safe, he became irritated and used inappropriate language. Throughout the drive, he continued speaking to me disrespectfully, even asking if I “understood English” while I was focusing on the road. He also reached over and applied the parking brake himself after I calmly explained how I had been taught by previous instructors. His behaviour made me extremely nervous, uncomfortable, and anxious. I reported the situation to Stefan immediately, who took it seriously and advised me to escalate the issue. Unfortunately, the incident affected my confidence and performance during my actual test. No student should be spoken to or treated this way, especially on test day.

Don’t go here if you’re from different ethnicities!!

Hello everyone. Today i want to share my experience with HDT loughborough centre. I just recently passed my HGV License and i worked with all the instructors approximately due to more attempts so i just wanna thank to Mr. Paul who is not just a human being, he is an angel to me who explained and taught me in such a good way that I passed my exam.Finally I would like to say that only if you are lucky you can get Mr. Paul as a Instructor.
