Awful service! They are clearly on the travel companys side. Absolute scam. Wish I had just gone to the small claims court. Their response was shocking, not taking anything into account and zero empathy to the situation. Wish they worked more like The Ombudsman. I had a claim against P&O, would never ever use Hunt ADR again or P&O and would def not recommend.

After an intense and eye opening week undertaking the accredited meditation training, I can say Gregg, John and Kelly were amazing. I would recommend Hunt ADR to anyone. The experience, knowledge and skill base is unrivalled, and the friends I've made and progress has been a fantastic experience. Such an amazing programme, and wonderful experience.

Well what can i say other than I wish i'd read the reviews on here. It is noteoworthy that every review relating to the actual arbitration service is negative. Our experience was exactly the same as the others. What appeared to be a simple and straight forward complaint against Jet2 for mis selling half board 'buffet style with show cooking' for an additional £500. When we arrived it was not offerred a 3 choice menu was offerred. Evidence sent in straight forward you'd think. Oh no,

They do not adhere to their own timescales ie. 28 days was 57.
Do not fully explain their reasons
They do not appear impartial in their narrative
If you wish to appeal it is another £350

You'd expect ABTA to have some oversight of this process but they do not appear to have.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE, GO TO THE SMALL CLAIMS COURT.

This is my personal experience.

IF you have been railroaded (pushed) here via ABTA complaints regarding issues on a cruise ship or holiday PLEASE STOP and do some research.

You are throwing away £108 (£216 as you have to pay other parties fee when you lose)

Wish I'd independently taken company to Small claims court, where it's a level playing field and ALL evidence and statements are considered.

It's a very one sided system and sadly you will lose as a consumer and lose the ability to take the case to a proper court..

My experience was appalling, HUNT ADR are very unhelpful, had zero support, they point blank refused to call me as I was struggling with the online platform and I suffer from mental health issues and depression.

After calling for assistance and promised a call back, I just got an email saying they would not help in any way.
I tried to cancel the claim at this point as it was apparent it was a unfair system, but this was refused, so I ended up filing evidence poorly while the company I was fighting had a full legal team and they point blank lied and altered records, so I lost, in the award letter received it even admits they don't go into full details, then the next insult is to appeal it? It will cost a further £350!!!! and I can not pursue this independently in a court of law.
Shameful company, Our £5,000+ cruise was ruined, children were exposed to health and safety risks due to staff negligence, poor service and discrimination yet Hunt ADR awarded them..
In my honest opinion I question just how independent MSC, ABTA and Hunt ADR really are.

Hunt ADR portal was very difficult to navigate.

Arbitrator did not adhere to timescales and no communication was received from Hunt ADR to update on this.

Predictably, I lost against Princess Cruises for their failure to provide the cruise itinerary marketed -it seems that this itinerary isn’t followed on many of its sailings, I WISH I HAD KNOWN THIS BEFOREHAND- there should be a way of stopping cruise lines selling itineraries that they frequently do not fulfil.

As I lost, I was ordered to pay a multi million pound cruise company a further £108, when I’d already spent £10,000 on a holiday I didn't receive.

I would NOT recommend using HUNT ADR or PRINCESS/CARNIVAL Cruise.

I would advise using the Small Claims process.

Bad experience.
The process was slow, communication wasn’t great and “action dates” were often missed, not major issues, but compounded by the fact that when the arbitrator did make his final decision, he got basic details of the case completely wrong. The details were pivotal to the case, and well evidenced. It’s frankly unacceptable for an “award” be made based on information that is factually wrong.
I suspect that the arbitrator did not have the time/motivation to review the case with any seriousness, but it also possible that the potential for these large travel firms to partner with a different arbitration firm for their future work loads does affect Hunt ADR’s impartiality. Either way, aside from the financial implications, it’s deeply frustrating that the travel agency has not been held to account. The travel agency in question has countless negative reviews for ripping people off in similar ways to what I experienced, and certainly in my case they have now been allowed to act with impunity.
It should be noted that before leaving this review, I did contact Hunt ADR directly to resolve this. With regards to their complaint’s procedure, I was told;
As you are aware, in line with our Service Complaints Procedure, we are only able to accept and investigate specific types of complaints, and I must remind you that the complaints which we are not able to accept are those which concern:
• the content of an Arbitration Award;
• the process undertaken by the Arbitrator in reaching their decision; or
• the validity of the procedures, rules, or timescales for the Scheme.
Refusing to accept complaints on the above points seems utterly ridiculous, as it basically means they will not accept complaints about any aspect of the service they offer!!!
When I did lodge a complaint, it took 5-6weeks to receive a response, and this was only after I prompted them. Their response was just to reiterate the above, and not to address the issues raised in my complaint.
I have now asked for the CEO to review the situation and have asked for details of any governing bodies that regulate the arbitration industry, so Hunt ADR’s handling of my case can be reviewed by an external party.
I would strongly advise using the small claims court instead of Hunt ADR.

I’m disappointed with the Hunt ADR arbitration service:

1. The messaging system is inflexible and poorly designed - there’s no ability to upload PDF responses so you have to use their online text editor but then after you submit a message all formatting (line breaks, bold, etc) is stripped so the message then appears as one clump of a hard to follow paragraph of text.
2. The case wasn’t handled by the arbitrator within the given timescale of 28 days (it took 34 days). I wasn’t even provided any updates regarding the delay and new expected timescales. Only after chasing an update on day 33, a response was received on day 34.
3. Even though the defendant clearly agreed during arbitration that they were responsible to pay more compensation (compared to their offer before arbitration), the arbitrator decided to dismiss 2 out of the 3 compensation items when making the final decision. Thankfully, despite the arbitrator dismissing 2 out of the 3 compensation items, the defendant still honoured and paid out for all 3 compensation items (however I’m still out of pocket by the £108 arbitration fee).

I wouldn’t recommend the the Hunt ADR arbitration service. I question the thoroughness and impartiality of the process. If in the future I face a despite with a travel operator I will make a claim via court.

I have just received confirmation that I have passed the Hunt ADR mediation skills training course and so I am now an Hunt ADR Ltd accredited mediator. I am also certified in on line mediation too as part of the course. Gregory Hunt and his team, including for John Jarrett and Kelly Thornton were excellent tutors. The five days flew by and I can highly recommend the course. Apart from now being accredited as a mediator I have new found skills I never knew I needed.
