We had an appalling experience with these guys. We sought to instruct them act in the sale of my mother- in- laws property following her death late last year. My wife spoke to their senior partner Bernadette and explained that she was keen to deal with a firm who could provide a personal service rather than one that was purely process driven. This simple request at a sensitive time engendered the rudest response I have ever witnessed in over 40 years in the profession myself. Awful. Don’t use. We didn’t.

I had the misfortune of dealing with John Welch and Stammers Solicitors. They massively lacked empathy and professionalism.

The staff member I spoke to, Bernadette, was particularly unhelpful and rude. It felt like my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. It’s astonishing how a firm that claims to specialise in legal matters can lack basic human decency.

I would not recommend this firm based on my experience. If you have any other options, I would highly recommend using another firm.

Bernadette was grossly unprofessional to my mother who had chosen their firm to support in the sale of a deceased family members estate. The way she spoke to my mother on the phone was vile, patronising and she is what can only be described as a complete bully. My mother only called to ask relevant questions as she had had 0 communication, no one answers the phone or replies to emails. Bernadette, rather than help to ease her concerns and apologise for the lack of response, laughed at her and ranted at her. If I managed this solicitors, I would be sure to keep someone like this away from clients - as she has cost you not only this business but also future business.

We have just sold our first house and in January we completed on our second house. Kenneth Skinner acted for us. Extremely professional, he talked us through the whole process and kept us up to date and stress free. This was our second time using JW&S. Quality service both times.

Recently purchased a property via Welch & Stammers. We found Kenneth to be very helpful and extremely thorough in all aspects of our case.

During the purchase there were some quiet periods where perhaps Kenneth could have sent ‘check in’ emails or similar.

However, throughout the process it was clear that our interests were at the forefront of Kenneth’s decisions. Some areas were described as more complicated than they actually were but overall a smooth purchase.

Worth mentioning that during a time while Kenneth was on leave Gareth was covering for Kenneth and he was very much on the ball with our case. Gareth dealt with our needs with a more personable approach which was reassuring and he was generally nicer to speak with in my opinion.

I would have given 5 stars but the gap in communication was a little big and perhaps a more personable approach from all working at W&S would have swayed me to give the full 5*
