I wish I’d accepted I needed counselling several years ago. I finally plucked up the courage, due to not only my daughter suggesting it, but also, as a result of feedback from a well meaning stranger. I lacked self confidence and had very low self esteem. From the start, my counsellor, Rachel, established a rapport with me. She listened and allowed me time to explore my feelings and experiences in a way I’d never felt safe to do before. Hearing my thoughts out loud caused me some distress but it was also cathartic. Rachel knew when to help me understand how past experiences had had a profound influence on the way I perceived myself now. She also pointed out the things I had achieved under often challenging circumstances, which I had not appreciated might actually be achievements having never had positive feedback.
She has transformed my life and I cannot thank her enough. I would most definitely recommend the service, particularly the counsellor I was lucky enough to have.
