Been at the gym here for close to 10 years over which I have seen a real decline in standards from a premium facility to basically that of a poorly run leisure centre . This decline has not adjusted in price with its fall in standards . How the facility can substantiate a premium monthly rate amazes me . They withdrawn towels , removed the jacuzzi . And the male sauna has been closed for many months and not fixed because of budget reasons . In addition the gym is outdated and becoming a health and safety hazard by running circuit classes on a relatively small gym floor.
After visiting my local Pure gym at a third of the price I feel there is little comparison and in truth I think it’s time to cancel my Nuffield membership .
I so hope the management take notice . Just wish they could restore the standards from previous years but sadly it’s all about cutting costs .

Have been a member of this gym for 7+ years and finally had to cancel my membership. Have seen a gradual decline in this gym over the years and disappointing that senior management do not listen to feedback or have made any significant improvements. Reasons below:

1. Cleanliness in the changing rooms (particularly the mens showers and toilets) are horrific. Lockers are not cleaned and regularly find hairs and dirt marks in here. The showers have mould and sewer flies. The steam room has clogged drains with hair and black marks everywhere.

2. The facilities have declined significantly (no towels/jacuzzi removed) and the mens sauna has been out of service for most of 2024.

3. Gym equipment and space is lacking (only 1 stepper in the gym / 1 row machine). Circuit classes are given priority in an already cramped gym area.

4. Gym staff are rude and not helpful. Young and inexperienced staff who do not greet members, often chatting amongst themselves in the reception area. When issues are raised, they claim they cannot do much and senior management do not listen.

5. Increasing membership prices for an already expensive gym (£100 a month avg.) while the services are in decline, is unacceptable.

Overall this gym is not doing justice for the local community and should be shut down or sold to a competitor who will bring new investment. Really sad to see as this gym could have great potential with the right owners.

Had a taster day and quite enjoyed it, the pool and gym being all in one place as well as the cafe is ideal for after work. The gym has the sledge push which I haven’t seen in many others and liked using. I’m going to hold out until the new men’s sauna is installed so I can get a full recovery in after my sessions 🙂 overall would recommend very pleased.

The swimming pool is ideal for me, I like that there are stairs that allow you to walk easily into the pool without straining. Generally there’s always space to swim freely even when swimming lessons are taking place. There are quite a variety of classes and have noticed more have been added. My only draw back is that I currently don’t drive so I find accessing the facilities when it’s dark, isn’t ideal, during the day it’s no issue with it being less than 10 minute walk from Wexham Park hospital. When I start driving I would be happy to commit, then I will be able to make the most out of it in the colder darker months.

I trialled this gym for 4 days and decided against signing up. My reasons included:
1) The location is inconvenient unless you drive, as it gets extremely dark on the stretch of road between the hospital and the gym, with next to no street lighting. The pavements are inadequate and keep stopping abruptly so you have to keep crossing over the road to get to a proper pavement on the other side, in the dark. Bear in mind from the other reviews that you may have trouble with fines if you do drive and choose to use their car park.
2) I don't feel there is sufficient value for money to justify the membership fee. The gym is smaller than average. The swimming pool is also pretty small, and the steam room is mixed gender so gets crowded. They apparently used to have a jacuzzi, but this is no longer offered, and there are tiny saunas inside each of the changing rooms. There aren't any other perks that are unique to this gym over any of the others in the area.
The toilets and showers aren't particularly clean, and there are at least a few hours every day where all you can hear is screaming children, defeating the purpose of trying to relax in the sauna. The sauna was out of order on one of the days, and I overheard a member complaining about this to the front desk staff, who couldn't have seemed to care less.
3) There was a great deal of disingenuity in their advertising of membership discounts on National Fitness Day. The promise was for your "first 2 months free", yet the first month this covered was September, of which less than 2 weeks remained. False advertising really gets my back up personally, so that was the deciding factor.

Edit: they also announced increased prices a couple of months later!! So I assume the 'discounts' were to lock people in to contracts and then gain back whatever was initially discounted by putting prices up!

Fantastic gym with great facilities and a welcoming atmosphere. Chantelle is amazing—super friendly, helpful, and always goes the extra mile to support members, regarding signing up giving general fitness advice always there when needed.
Highly recommend Nuffield for anyone looking to join a top-notch gym!

Excellent experience,
Smiling, Welcoming and friendly staff. At first it feels like they are just been told to do so or they are just doing their job, but then you realise it's a norm here and each and every staff is really kind.
Also, Ishrat in Cafeteria is amazing and no matter how busy it is, she treats you with a smile.
