Can’t recommend Philip and his team enough. From start to finish I had clear communication from him and his team. As with any project the budget went a bit north and we had the odd unforeseen delay but from start the whole job done in 3 and half weeks. It started with a conversation about turning the back bedroom that wasn’t being used into a giant bespoke wardrobe. Phil looked after me with the budget but when you get quality craftsmanship like this then you can’t be anything but satisfied

Phil project managed several home improvements for us including: replacing a flat roof, removing skirting across the ground floor and replacing with more 1930s style skirting, taking up the Dining room floor to replace rotten joists and replacing, fixing a potential damp issue, the decoration of three rooms and carpeting of them also. Furthermore, the downstairs toilet was removed, replaced and the room was modernised with new flooring, plastering and decorating.

Throughout the process, Phil kept us carefully updated, visited regularly to quality check the work and facilitated a sensible payment schedule throughout.

Phil has used all the people he brings him himself often on his own home and he doesn't let them leave the job until the work is excellent. Bringing Phil in to project manage, took away the stress of sourcing tradespeople and ensured a much nicer home improvement experience.

How to save time and money on your decorating project

As a homeowner, I’ve been through quite a few rounds of decorating in various houses I’ve lived in. It usually involves a lots of legwork – from trawling the internet for hours looking for inspiration, to spending a small fortune on match pots. We’ve also made the odd expensive mistake along the way when a colour that looked good on a 1 inch square on a paint chart didn’t look quite as good on the walls!

Not so this time because we found Philip Martyn Design and their fabulous colour consultancy service.

The whole experience from start to finish was fantastic. After an initial ‘fact finding’ phone call, a specialist colour consultant, Dan, visited us at home. He came well prepared with mood boards of different looks, and I was surprised at how quickly he got to grips with what we liked and what we were trying to achieve with our decorating refresh.

Dan brought a whole new dimension to choosing paint colours. He looked at the flow of the house, considered our furniture, curtains, carpets and so on, before making suggestions that we loved, using colour combinations that we would never have thought to use. We agreed the colours there and then.

By the time Dan left we couldn’t wait for the decorating to begin. He followed up quickly with a full written specification of which colours to use on each of the walls in each of the rooms he had colour designed for us.

And just like that, we were ready to go. No stress, no hassle, no trial and error with pricey paint pots, no trailing around DIY shops or trawling the internet for ideas.

We had already booked our decorator through Philip Martyn Design so the decorating began a week later and the whole project finished within two weeks. We are delighted with the end result - it is truly transformational.

Philip has done work for me before so no hesitation in contacting him to discuss the condition of my hardwood windows, which had seen better days. The advice was sound, I replaced 5 windows and had 4 rooms re decorated.
The windows look fab and the patience and care both Phil and Roy took in their papering and painting was great.Looking to book Philip again in March 2024 for further work.
