I generally do all my own ski servicing before/after a trip, but as the bases get an accumulation of little nicks that cant be fixed with Ptex, I thought it was about time I get a professional base grind, to give them a new lease of life.

I am always a little wary of handing over my treasured belongs to someone I don't know, so my old Blizzard Peacemakers are no different. But they haven't had a full service since I bought them and since then a season and a bunch of week sessions had taken its toll. I wanted them to be ready for the next trip, before putting them to bed with a thick layer of storage wax.

The ski technician at Snow and Rock, Oli instantly put me at ease. He clearly knew what he was talking about and carefully and intently looked over my skis and talked me through my options.

I left them with him and picked them up yesterday. He kept me up to date on progress and even sent me some photos along the way.

The results are INCREDIBLE, I am so chuffed!
He has clearly only taken just enough off to clear the scratches and the bases look better than they did new. Such a uniform pattern in the grain and the ski pores ready to absorb some wax again.
He also sorted some nicks in the metal edges and I swear my binding feel a bit more solid when I click the skis together. Maybe I'm imagining it...

Anyway I waxed them yesterday which was very enjoyable and I can't wait to ride them again next time.

As a retired climbing & mountaineering instructor, who only teaches occasionally, my knowledge is very high. However, the stock was fairly broad, but lacked the depth I would expect. The section of climbing equipment was small, but what was there was very good quality, being DMM or Petzl.
The staff were almost invisible & I had to ask for assistance. However, when the person came to help, they were friendly, if not the most knowledgeable. However, given my professional background, I'm probably not their target customer.
If you are a qualified instructor, take your licence with you if you want a BMC or MLT discount.

awful after care and service, i was fitted incorrectly and told after getting shin splints AGAIN from anothet pair of trainers recommended from here i can not swap or get a refund. would steer well away from this place they just take your money and not wanting to help you out and have 0 education on running trainers avoid avoid avoid!!!!

I've had my skis serviced by Oli at Snow and Rock Filton for the last 10 years or so and he is superb. This year I got my first core-shot but Oli has done a fantastic repair and the skis look great. Would heartily reccomend.

After 20 yrs skiing, my wife and I have both just bought new ski boots from Snow & Rock, Filton, and had them fitted by James. We are incredibly pleased with all aspects of the service. The boots were actually really good value for money compared to most other places, but what made it all stand out was the care and expertise. James clearly knows his stuff, and went the extra mile to ensure that our boots were spot-on.....and with a ton of top tips that somehow we didn't know after all these years skiing! Can't recommend the shop and him highly enough.
