I recently received an unsolicited phone call from a representative of Straightline Retail Recruitment, who, based on other reviews, may be the owner. The interaction was disappointing and unprofessional from the start. Although my CV is available on platforms like Indeed and CV Library (a standard practice for job seekers), the caller seemed more interested in being confrontational than helpful.

He claimed my profile matched a job opportunity but provided little to no information about the role itself. Throughout the conversation, he exhibited an unprofessional demeanor, overtaking me, and even belittling my current job. ( I suggest he consider improving his communication skills) his behavior seemed entirely unsuitable for a recruitment professional. Instead of addressing my concerns, he abruptly hung up.

This experience left me feeling bewildered and disrespected, and I see from other online reviews that I am not alone in this. It is disheartening to encounter such hostility from someone in a professional role. The caller even challenged my reasons for being open to new opportunities, dismissing my explanation as inadequate for having my CV on a job board. The audacity and lack of professionalism were shocking.

I would not recommend Starline Retail Recruitment to anyone based on this encounter. A recruiter’s role is to support and guide candidates, not to create a hostile and uncomfortable environment.

I just had a phone call from one of your recruiter called Shaun. or Shawn... Working in retail industry since 2005 in quite senior positions, the way I have been approached was quite shocking. First asking whether I am Polish... just based on the name, he as recruiter should not ask me that question ( probably asking whether I have right to work in UK) when he can clearly see on my CV that i surely do, working in UK. Secondary making comments on my response " lots of people tell me that etc" Really.... when i explained why he still kept being rude, i however agreed to do screening interview, but truly i feel disgusted with his approach and people skills. I hope there is another recruitment agency recruiting for the position I have applied for because i will not even bother to go through screening interview with him. complete put off....
