Spoke with Rhys on the phone to arrange a structural inspection - that I thought I needed! Rhys first discussed the issues then gave me a lot of technical and building regulation information and advice to consider first. I can not praise him enough for the patience and support he gave me.

Did not actually end up getting a structural report done, however Rhys took the time to go through the building survey we had done and whether we would need a structural engineer and also gave really good advice about the buying process. We had some work done as the result of a fire which damaged our outbuilding, including garage, workshop and stables. This was done through the insurance company AA who were very supportive. However, the contractor they engaged to carry out the repairs caused me a number of concerns regarding the quality of the work, specifically the pitched roof, the stable overhang and some of the block work. I got little joy from the contractors and was starting to question if it was just me being unreasonable. This is when I contacted Rhys. He was so supportive from the very first contact and was more than happy to give me advice and guidance over the phone. Eventually I took the decision to ask Rhys to carryout a survey of the work as the contractor were telling me it was "fine" and even managed to get the job "signed off" by a Building Control firm in Hull! Rhys was adamant he would carry out the inspection impartially and would not just "go along" with what I thought, very professional and something I was re-assured by demonstrating his professioanl integrity. Rhys visited the site and carried out a comprehensive survey of the work completed, thanking photographs, measurements and listening to all my concerns. He also raised a couple I had not spotted!
A few days later his report arrived. It was comprehensive, detailed, very well written, with calculations and cross-referenced to an appendix of photographs. His conclusion was indeed that there were serious issues with the structure, safety and integrity of the roof, overhang and the block work. This confirmed my worst fears but also provided me with reassurance I was not going mad!
I have forwarded the report to the insurers and am currently awaiting their response.
I cannot thank Rhys enough and would 100% recommend Taylor Tuxford to anybody looking for a surveyor. Yes there is a cost involved but when you get service like this it is a small price to pay in my opinion.

Rhys (the director) couldn't have been helpful and honest. I needed a structural survey on a house I'm buying, and got in touch with Rhys. He had a chat with the Vendor and in the end decided not to undertake the survey, as he didn't feel it necessary in his professional opinion. He could have easily taken my money, but instead offered me useful (and interesting) advice and shared his knowledge. Highly recommend, even if it's just to ask a question!
