Made initial phone call requesting a quote on a domestic roof tiling job and spoke to Stephanie. She took details and promised she would check availability for a site visit and call me back. Nothing received after 4 hours so called again and spoke to a receptionist who told me that Stephanie was on a call but took my details again and assured me I would get a call back. To date (which is the next day) still no call back.

If you are too busy then say so and I can look elsewhere. First impressions are very important and if this experience is a reflection of the rest of the company then would I want to trust someone to reroof my house. I need someone reliable who does what they say they will do. Unfortunately Stephanie, you have let the side down!

I had recently moved house and the new house that I moved into was a fairly old property and had a fairly large oak tree nearby. As a result the roof over time had collected a large amount of moss and other vegetation. In places, the growth was a few inches high and from a distance the roof appeared practically green.

I contacted 4 local companies for quotes to remove the growth and clean the roof. Two of these companies proposed using a pressure washer to do the job but it seemed to me that that would be likely to cause more problems than it would solve. Another one proposed to clean the roof by hand – basically two people on the roof scrubbing and scraping away. I wasn’t convinced that this would be particularly effective and besides this was not a small roof and to clean it by hand would take quite some time.

The fourth company to quote was The Dorridge Roof Company. Their approach was entirely different. They would effectively steam clean the roof. After a couple of conversations with Richard White at The Dorridge Roof Company I decided that even though their quote was a good bit more that the others that I had received, it seemed to me that it was the only credible approach and so I asked them to go ahead.

They turned up on time on the day with their specialist steam cleaning machine and by the time I returned home later that day the job was practically complete. The results were more than I could have hoped for. They had made an excellent job of cleaning the roof. I had expected there to have been some difficulty or other or perhaps some areas that wouldn’t clean as well as others but the roof had been comprehensively cleaned and was as good as new.

They cleaned up after them and were gone by 6pm that day. They even came back a couple of days later to make some minor repairs to a few damaged tiles and to lay some ‘gutter hedgehog’ in the gutters to prevent future clogging up. They even did this free of charge.

In all, The Dorridge Roof Company did a first class, totally professional job on my roof. I was delighted with the results and I would thorough recommend them to anybody who wants their roof cleaned and wants to be sure of the results.
